VELVET REVOLVER To Re-Record Song For Upcoming Debut

VELVET REVOLVER are expected to return to the studio this weekend to re-record one of the songs slated for inclusion on the group's debut CD, an informed source has told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. It is believed that the track in question is being re-recorded at the insistence of vocalist Scott Weiland, who was reportedly unhappy with how the song turned out during the original recording sessions, which took place in the fall.

As previously reported, VELVET REVOLVER's much-anticipated debut album, tentatively titled "Contraband", will include twelve of more than fifty tracks the band co-wrote before and after Weiland (ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS) joined the lineup last spring. The CD, which was produced by Josh Abraham (LIMP BIZKIT, STAIND) and mixed by Andy Wallace (NIRVANA, WHITE ZOMBIE, LINKIN PARK, SLAYER, SEPULTURA),is due on April 27, 2004 through RCA Records. Songtitles set to appear on the album include "Slither", "Falling to Pieces", "Superhuman" and "Illegal Eye".

Weiland, who is currently completing a court-ordered six-month residential drug rehabilitation program in Pasadena, Ca., recently switched rehab centers so that he could get more personal care in a smaller facility. Weiland's due back in court for a probation status report on January 9. The singer's arraignment date, to enter a plea to the charge of driving under the influence of drugs (from his late October arrest),was pushed back from December 23 to January 23.

VELVET REVOLVER's current lineup is rounded out by former GUNS N' ROSES members Slash (guitar),Duff McKagan (bass),and Matt Sorum (drums),along with guitarist Dave Kushner (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, LOADED).
